Most traffic tickets received in Southampton will end up at the Southampton Town Justice court at 116 Hampton Road, Southampton. It is actually the busiest Justice Court in New York State. The court is presently located in the Town Hall Building. The court consists of 2 court rooms. The four Justices, Judge Deborah Kooperstein, Judge Tandrea H. Schiavoni, Judge Barbara Wilson, and Judge Edward Burke, Sr. handle the case load on a rotating basis. Later in 2009 the court will be moving to a new location on Jackson Avenue in Hampton Bays. Unlike many local courts, traffic tickets in Southampton are prosecuted by the Suffolk County District Attorneys Office. Each traffic ticket is prosecuted by an assistant district attorney. Traffic Tickets received within the Village of Southampton will be returnable to the Southampton Village Court located at 115 Windmill Lane. Judge Barbara Wilson, who is also the Judge at the Southampton Town Justice Court, is the Judge at the Village Court. Traffic tickets are prosecuted by the Suffolk County District Attorneys Office.
